The Oceti Sakowin Oyate (OSO)Bibliography Project
The Oceti Sakowin Oyate (OSO) Bibliography Project is a growing collection of works by Dakota, Nakota, and Lakota authors. This living archive is not meant to be exhaustive, but rather a starting point—a tool for discovery, research, and celebration of Oceti Sakowin literary expression across time and place.
While not every title meets the full criteria of the #NativeReads campaign, each book in this collection has contributed to how we understand and carry forward our rich literary traditions. Some are co-authored or edited by Oceti Sakowin contributors, focus on broader Indigenous topics, or may currently be out of print, but all reflect meaningful contributions to the story of our people.
To learn more about the #NativeReads criteria, see page 2 of “Stories of the Oceti Sakowin.”
Special thanks to LaVonne Yazzie and Talyssa Caya, as well as College Horizons and the Brookings Reconciliation Council, for their support.
